14 hours of flight and more PDF Print E-mail
This morning I woke up at 3 in the morning to prepare for my flight. As I am always scared of flying (specially on long -haul trip like this) I just followed the advised of my husband to take this opportunity to read books or watch movies that I missed during the trip. I was excited to see that more than 90% of passengers on this plane that I took were filipino going back home. "Balikbayan' as we call them: for I am still 14 hours far from being home but here we are and I already start to hear tagalog conversations, jokes and filipinos chatting endlessly with their friends. And when our plane finally touched down at half past eight morning the next day, I said 'home sweet home". A big welcome home entourage is part of our cultural tradition (the reason why visitors welcoming arriving guests are requested to pay so as to discourage them of entering the airport)

I knew that my whole family will be there to welcome me, and I was right. I am so glad to see my entire family waiting and waving their hands when they saw me going out of the arrival area. The jeepney rented by my sister was already eagerly waiting outside the airport, it took us four hours drive to reach back home ( 2 hours drive + 2 hours stocked in the traffic jam) , well I am really here in my dear Philippines.

The next morning I had salted fish with fresh tomatoes, fried rice, hot choco and lots and lots of bananas and mangoes for my breakfast really really good!! well after this heartful breakfast I went to meet the members of our workshop in Dasmarinas Cavite. As usual I started by distributing gifts from France ( as this is part of our cultural tradition again) everybody were so happy and excited. We have discussed plenty of problems and expectations of this mission here and the result of the meeting was very positive. We will designate different task for each member and we will need to present the result of our assignment by Tuesday next week (as May first is also a non- working holiday here)Our meeting ended up at around 6 in the evening but everybody rested to help of Ate Christy our coordinator to decorate her house with flowers of bougainvilla and hibiscus for the birthday party of her daughter tomorrow. Of course the entire neighborhood is invited.
